During this national health emergency, the priority of the SDL Board is to adopt policies which protect the health of employees and patrons while providing library service in the safest possible manner to our community. Decisions by the Library Board are based on recommendations and/or requirements of an alphabet soup of sources: ALA (American Library Association), CDC (Centers For Disease Control), LEO (Department of Labor & Economic Opportunity), MLA (Michigan Library Association), MDHHS Michigan Department of Heath & Human Services), MiOSHA (Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and other agencies. The Library Board also considered spacing constraints within areas of the facility and the vulnerability of our patrons who are most at risk.
